Helen Marie Valenta

Helen Marie Valenta, 89, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, was born on January 16, 1923, in Rienbeck, Iowa, daughter of Paul and Alice Chalupsky. She departed this life on August, 26, 2012, at Crown Point Health and Rehab Center in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas. Helen was united in marriage to Lester Valenta on June 16, 1947, in Waterloo, Iowa. She worked as a cosmetologist. Helen was a member of the Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Church, Horseshoe Bend Garden Club and the Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Women's Mary Circle. She leaves to mourn her passing: husband, Lester Valenta of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; three sons, Dennis Lee Valenta and wife Kathy of Palo, Iowa, Steven Valenta and wife Laura of Mankato, Minnesota, and Gary Lester Valenta and wife Debbie of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Merle, Allen Clayton and Claire. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012, 2:00 PM, at Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Church in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, with Rev. Nancy Cameron officiating. Interment will be in the Czech National Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at a later date. Memorials preferred to Horseshoe Bend Garden Club or Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Women's Mary Circle.
