James Cordell Carroll

James Cordell Carroll was born in Viola, Arkansas, on January 16, 1938, son of Truman Taylor and Elsie Lee (Woods) Carroll. He departed this life June 15, 2013, while in the company of family members at his home in Viola, Arkansas, at the age of 75 years, 4 months, and 30 days. James was united in marrige to Patsy Lou (Felts) Carroll on May 20, 1960, at Kansas City, Missouri. To this union two sons were born. He worked on the ferry for several years and was also a farmer. James enjoyed trail riding, fishing, hunting, farming, and time spent with family and friends. For the past six years, with failing health, he has lived for his family and special granddaughter, Shaylea and great grandson, Wrowdy. James was a member of the Viola First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Patsy of the home; two sons, Scotty Carroll and Jimmy Carroll, both of Viola, Arkansas; one sister, Betty, Atchison (Chuck) of Wakarusa, Kansas, and one brother, Gary Carroll (Jane) of Burlingame, Kansas; two grandchildren, Shaylea Worsham (John) of Viola, Arkansas, and Christopher Alan Garrison; two great grandchildren, Wrowdy Wayne Worsham and Jayden Garrison; many other relatives and friends. James was preceded by his parents and one brother, Bob Carroll. Funeral services will be held at Barker Funeral Home, Salem, Arkansas, at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, with Bro. John Hodges and Bro. Larry Ring officiating. Interment at Viola Cemetery, Viola, Arkansas. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM at Barker Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers will be Connie Hutson, Steve Hutson, Barry Hutson, Jim Batterton, Shawn Sutterfield, Elwin Wray, Greg Williams and Alan Barker. Honorary pallbearers will be "Trail Riders' and Charles Sherman. Memorials preferred to Viola Cemetery Association, 1649 Hwy 223 N, Viola, Arkansas 72583.
