Edna M. Kohlhoff

Edna M. (Kaack) Kohlhoff was born on May 18, 1916, to Anton and Alvina (Eckhoff) Kaack in Grant Park, Illinois, the eldest of thirteen children. She departed this life on July 21, 2013, at Crown Point Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, at the age of 97 years, 2 months, and 3 days. Edna was united in marriage on December 3, 1943, to Walter Kohlhoff, and to this union two children, Louis and Phyllis, were born. She was of the Lutheran faith, an avid quilter and a lifelong Cubs fan. Edna is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Smith and husband, Steve, whom she lived with for the last fifteen years; daughter-in-law, Brunhilde Kohlhoff; six grandsons, Eric Smith (Maribel), Jeff Kohlhoff, Ryan Smith (Tina), Neil Kohlhoff, Paul Smith (Angel), and Jason Kohlhoff (Sarah); thirteen great grandchildren, Erin, Emily, Ian, Natalie, Lori, and Molly Kohlhoff, and Tyler, Kyle, Clayton, Kayla, William, Brady, and Brenna Smith; one great-great grandson, Julian Kohlhoff; five sisters, Dorothy Mausehund, Betty LeVault, Mariane Mackey, Carol Albertson, and Linda Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; one son, Louis; five brothers, and two sisters. Funeral service will be held at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Chicago, Illinois, Friday, July 26, 2013, 10:00 AM with Pastor David Abrahamson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Lucas Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois. Visitation will be held at Lakeview Funeral Home in Chicago, Illinois, Thursday, July 25, 2013, 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Memorials preferred to Shepherd of Hills Lutheran Church in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas or St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Chicago, Illinois.
