Cora Lavena Sanders

Cora Lavena (Oliver) Sanders was born in Viola, Arkansas, on August 30, 1920, daughter of Bryan and Mary Ardella (Kelton) Oliver. She departed this life on July 27, 2013, Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Arkansas, at the age of 92 years, 10 months, and 27 days. Cora was united in marriage to Cleston Doyle Sanders on April 4, 1944, at Salem, Arkansas. She enjoyed helping Cleston with everything on the farm, and excelled at cow milking and truck driving for hay haulers. Cora spent her working years at the Crown Drug Store in Kansas City, Missouri, as a teacher and cafeteria worker at Viola Schools, and Quality Control Supervisor at Mar Bax Shirt Company in both Gassville and Salem, Arkansas. She was a member of the Viola First Baptist Church. Cora is survived by a daughter, Janet Honchell and husband, Bert of Panama City, Florida; a son, Kenneth Sanders and wife, Patsy of Viola, Arkansas; two grandsons, Scott Sanders and wife, Denise of Wauchula, Florida, and Gregory Sanders and wife, Amanda of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; five great grandchildren, Cleston Drew, Zane, Darby, Zeke and Zack; a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Clifford Oliver; sister, Eula Oliver; one great granddaughter, Anna Lynn Sanders. Funeral Services will be held at Viola First Baptist Church in Viola, Arkansas, at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 29, 2013, with Bro. John Hodges and Bro. Larry Ring officiating. Interment will be in Flint Springs Cemetery in Viola, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Jim Billinger, Bill Crow, Elwin Wray, Stacy Perryman, Danny Perryman and Larry Duncan. Honorary Pallbearers are Charles Sherman, Frank Oliver, John Perry, Coy Stone and Gaylon Bridges. Memorials preferred to Flint Springs Cemetery.
