Martha Lou Starnes

Martha Lou Starnes was born in Elizabeth, Arkansas, on February 18, 1932, daughter of Otis and Tiny (Owens) Laymon. She departed this life Sunday, September 15, 2013, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas, at the age of 81 years, 6 months, and 26 days. Martha was united in marriage to Philip Starnes in St. Louis, Missouri. She was employed as a shoe factory assembler in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, for many years. Martha was a Protestant and a member of the Assembly of God. She is survived by three sisters, Lida Roe of Viola, Arkansas, Ethna Sullins of Harrison, Arkansas, and Mae Dawson-Wray of West Plains, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers, Orville, John, Jim and Paul Laymon; and one sister, Dorlis Laymon. Graveside services and burial will be held Saturday, September 21, 2013, at 10:00 AM in the Viola Cemetery at Viola, Arkansas. Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Arkansas, in charge of arrangements.
