Lloyd Darter Martz Jr

Lloyd Darter Martz Jr was born in Batesville, Arkansas, August 16, 1942, son of Lloyd Edward Martz Sr and Hazel Darter Martz. He departed this life Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Arkansas, at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 7 days. Lloyd was united in marriage to Pamela Denison on September 6, 1964, at Lynn, Arkansas. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, was an Arkansas State Policeman for thirty years and Fulton County Sheriff for six years. Lloyd enjoyed working on the farm, fishing, talking with his brother every day, and he loved baseball. He was a member of Salem Church of Christ and will be remembered as a loving husband and a good father. Lloyd is survived by his wife Pam of Salem, Arkansas; two daughters, Stacy Barton of Saffell, Arkansas, and Angela Herron and husband George of Mountain Home, Arkansas; two sons, Chris Martz of West Plains, Missouri, and Pat Martz of Salem, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Zach and Tori Barton, Jaxon Martz, Kolbe Herron and Addison Martz; one brother, Joe Martz and wife Earlene of Melbourne, Arkansas; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 27, 2014, 3:00 PM at Salem Church of Christ in Salem, Arkansas, with Bro. Mike Yates officiating. Family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time at the church. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery in Salem, Arkansas, with services entrusted to Barker Funeral Home of Salem. Pallbearers are James Kerley, Terry Walker, Brad Schaufler, David Estes, Daniel Busch, Buck Foley, James Cantrell and Carrol Traw. Honorary pallbearers are Roy Barker, Joe Roberson, Keith McHenry, Dwayne Plumlee, Bill Slayton, Paul Gene Martin, Albert Roork, Jim Short and "Fellow Officers". Memorials preferred to Arkansas State Police Teddy Bear Fund.
