Barbara Sue Shipman was born in Lake City, Arkansas, on July 20, 1947, daughter of John Daniel and Anna Mae (Bell) Lewis. She departed this life Friday, July 25, 2014, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas, at the age of 67 years and 5 days. Barbara was united in marriage to James "Jim" Shipman on April 14, 1990, at Monette, Arkansas. She enjoyed flowers, puzzles, crocheting and was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Salem, Arkansas. Barbara is survived by a daughter, Leanna Dobbins of Clyde, Texas; four sons, Kevin Russell and wife Pam of Jonesboro, Arkansas, James Hoy of Orange Park, Florida, Terry Hoy and fiancee` Kathy Shook of Ridgeland, Mississippi, and Ellis Russell and wife Sarah of Jonesboro, Arkansas; one sister, Betty Hughes of Jonesboro, Arkansas; many grandchildren; several great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Deborah Davis; her parents; two sisters, Shirley Cook and Lori Foust; two brothers, Johnny Lewis and Ricky Tyree. Funeral services will be held at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas, at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 28, 2014, with Elder Leon Graves officiating. Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery in Salem, Arkansas, with services entrusted to Barker Funeral Home of Salem. Pallbearers are Larry Travelstead, James Hughes, Chris Ballard and Shane Travelstead. Memorials preferrred to First Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund.
