Steven Michael Mayo

Steven Michael Mayo was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, January 7, 1947, son of William Charles and Eloise Adele (Mears) Mayo. He departed this life Monday, March 28, 2016, at his home in Viola, Arkansas, at the age of 69 years, 2 months and 21 days. Steven was united in marriage in Reno, Nevada, June 22, 1997, to Janet Sue Scott. He served his Country during the Vietnam War with the US Navy. Steven enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, boating and camping. He was very well read and loved history and gardening. Steven had a very fulfilling life traveling throughout the US to horseshoe tournaments. He is survived by his wife, Janet Mayo of Viola, Arkansas; four daughters, Jennifer Mayo of Grass Valley, California, Michelle Benuzzi of Reno, Nevada, Charlotte Sanders of Camptonville, California, and Patricia Milks of Littleton, Colorado; seven grandchildren; four brothers, William Mayo (Sandy) of Lincoln, California, Robin Mayo (Geni) of Lemoore, California, Ted Mayo (Penny) of Ogden, Utah, and Marc Mayo (Jamie) of Melbourne, Australia; many other relatives and friends. Steven was preceded in death by his parents. Arrangements entrusted to Barker Funeral Home of Salem. Memorials preferred to Arkansas Children's Hospital.
