A. Calvin Estes
The son of John Matt Estes and Dora Agnos (Hall) Estes was born July 4, 1924 in Agnos, Arkansas. He departed this life on February 20, 2020, at the age of 95 years. Calvin was one of seven children and was preceded in death by an infant daughter Mary Kathleen Estes, parents, and five sisters Beulah Leftwich Cotton, Zora Brown, Lillian Tucker, Fern Brown, and Luanita Southard.
He is survived by his wife Cherry Estes of the home of seventy two years, daughter Janice (Estes) Fish and Walter, son Regan Estes, grandson Shannon Fish (Amy), grandson Zachary Fish (Laura), great grandchildren Connor, Kaylee, Cooper Fish, Steven Taylor, Caitlyn Fish, Christian Fish, Colton Fish, and great-great grandchildren Arianna, Kael, Autumn Fish, and his sister Betty Benton of Glencoe, Arkansas.
Calvin was blessed with many nieces and nephews. Calvin retired from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission September 1, 1986 with thirty-three and a half years of service. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason of Fort Smith, Arkansas, member of the Peace Officers Association, a past Grand Patron of Eastern Star #149 in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, a Federal Deputy Wildlife officer, as well as a United States Deputy Marshall.
Calvin was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather. He was a friend to many and valued people. He loved and enjoyed his family very much. He loved his volunteer service at Baxter Regional Hospital. He enjoyed listening to and watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He loved the outdoors, traveling, blue grass music, and playing a variety of his collection of fiddles, guitars, and banjo.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas with Walter Fish, Shannon Fish and Zachary Fish officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 P.M. until time of service of Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Barker Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Wiles Cemetery in Ash Flat, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Connor Fish, Colton Fish, Caitlyn Fish, Cooper Fish, Steven Taylor, Christian Fish, and Kaylee Fish. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
