Alvin (Lloyd) Moore, age 100, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026. Lloyd was born on January 9, 1926, in Day, Arkansas. His mother passed away when he was just 6 months old, and he was lovingly raised by his father, grandparents, and Aunt Lois, who together shaped the strong, humble, man he became.
His childhood was filled with farm chores, baseball, basketball, and a caring family that made sure he was not only cared for but was instilled with good moral values that would stay with him throughout his life. He attended a one-room schoolhouse, played basketball at Violet Hill High School, and worked the land through bitter winters- once stepping up as "the man of the house" when his father became ill.
In 1950, Lloyd married the love of his life, Jaunita Burch, beginning a 63-year marriage marked by love and devotion, raising two children, and building a life together. In 1952, they moved to Peoria, Illinois, where Lloyd began a 40-year career at Caterpillar. He worked in the foundry, assembly, and repair, taking great pride in his craft, his coworkers, and the stability he provided for his family.
Lloyd was a familiar and beloved presence at Northwoods Mall, where he and Jaunita enjoyed walking daily during their golden years. He continued the tradition after her death and kept making more true friends in the process.
A devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan, Lloyd lived through the Great Depression, the moon landing, and some of the most pivotal moments in our nation's history. Despite building a life in Illinois, he faithfully returned to Arkansas many times each year and never forgot where he came from.
Lloyd is survived by his children, Barb (Jay) Cline, and Vernon (Linda) Moore; his grandchildren, Gloria and Jeanna Moore and Richard (April) Carroll; his great-grandchildren, Jack and Samuel Cline; and all who were blessed by his gentle humor and deep love.
