Barbara Lou (Ellis) Mayo, 80, of West Plains, Missouri passed from this life on Friday, December 3, 2021, in Salem, Arkansas. Barbara was born May 30, 1941, in Heart, Arkansas to the late Fred Washington Ellis and Della (Mooney) Ellis.

Barbara was united in marriage to Howard Mayo on November 10, 1990, in Salem, Arkansas. Barbara spent her working years as a homemaker and was a member of the United Freewill Baptist Church at West Plains, Missouri. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed her flowers and being outside. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend.

She leaves to mourn her passing, two sons; Nick Painter and wife Charlotte of Salem, Arkansas and Steve Painter and wife Rikki of Batesville, Arkansas; stepson, Harold Dean Mayo and wife Cheryl of West Plains, Missouri; daughter, Melissa Wagner and husband Alan of Salem, Arkansas; stepdaughter, Stephanie Mayo of West Plains, Missouri; seven grandchildren, James Wagner (Maegan), Bailey Sanders (Jordan), Morgan Reyes (Cristian), Jake Painter, Trapper York (Nicole), Kimberley Tyler (Justin), and Jimmy McSpadden (Destiny); two step grandchildren, Josephine Mayo and Jacqueline Mayo; eleven great grandchildren, Hayden Wagner, Hadley Wagner, Crews Wagner, Sadie Sanders, Olivia McSpadden, Eliza McSpadden, Cash McSpadden, Lela McSpadden, Conley Tyler, Fisher Tyler, and Huntlee York; sister, Ella Faye Hall (Morris) of Saddle, Arkansas; special friend, Margie Bridges of West Plains, Missouri; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband (Howard Mayo), parents, brother (Gaylon Ellis), and sister (Leota Maguffee).

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 6, 2021, at the Salem First Baptist Church United in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 A.M. until time of service on Monday, December 6, 2021, at the Salem First Baptist Church in Salem, Arkansas. Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery in Salem, Arkansas. Pallbearers are James Wagner, Jake Painter, Bailey Sanders, Cristian Reyes, Morgan Reyes, and Jordan Sanders. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Maguffee, Kim Hall, Marvin Maguffee, and Cavin Hall. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home, LLC in Salem, Arkansas.
