Barbara Marie Tyson

Barbara Marie Tyson, 67, departed this life on February 3, 2022, at Baxter Regional Medical Center. Barbara was born in Thayer, Missouri on December 22, 1954, to Fred and Velma Myers.  

Barbara was a lifelong resident of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and a 1972 graduate from Mammoth Spring High School and Homecoming Queen. She continued her time at the Mammoth Spring School District as a bus driver and teacher’s aide for thirty-eight years. Barbara also retired from Fred’s Fish House in Mammoth Spring. She was united in marriage to Joseph Michael Tyson on June 7, 1974, at her mother’s house in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. Barbara loved her family whole heartedly. She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching her grandkids events, taking pictures, and sitting around the table visiting. She always worked hard and had fun. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Barbara is survived by her husband Mike of forty-seven years; two children, Jospeh Tyson, Jr. and wife Lacee and Velma Michelle Bird and husband David; one step daughter, Tiffany Petersen and husband Jamie; eight grandchildren, Gabe Hedden, Jailee Tyson, Charlie Petersen, Lillee Bird, Landen Bird, Emree Tyson, Layland Bird, and Mia Bird; two brothers, Larry Myers and wife Millie and Ron Myers and wife Vickie; sister-in-law, Sharon Myers; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, stepfather (Howard Phillips), in-laws (Miller and Sis Tyson), baby sister (Kathy Myers), two brothers (Jim Myers and Leonard Myers), and grandson (Cooper Bird).

Memorial Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Riverside Cemetery in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas with Bro. Farrell Nicholson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home LLC of Salem, Arkansas.
