Betty Jo Humphries

July 8, 1931 — February 20, 2021

Betty Jo Humphries, of Salem, AR, passed from this life to join her Lord and her beloved husband, George Rex, on February 20, 2021. Betty, the daughter of Rufus and Bernice Cunningham, was born on July 8, 1931, in Camp, AR. Betty attended Camp School in her younger years and was a graduate of Salem High School.

Betty married the love of her life, George, on January 12, 1952, and they were married for almost 68 years.  To this union, two children were born.  Betty was a longtime, faithful member of Salem United Methodist Church.  Betty was a devoted and loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who was always known for her kind heart, her friendly smile and her wonderful cooking.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Ann Barnes (Gary) of Liberty, MO; her son, David (Anna) of Sturkie, AR; five grandchildren, Heather Parsons (Brandon), LeeAnn Tullis (David), B.J. Humphries (Nicole), Kristen Johnson (Mark) and Beth Humphries; six great grandchildren, Samantha and Alexis Parsons; and Coltin, Brooks, Hadley and Millie Johnson; her sister Adine Stephens (Bob); nieces Cindy, Angie and Kristi and many other relatives and friends.  Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George, her brother Junior Cunningham and her sisters, Lena Jeffrey and Aline Louma.

A private family service will be held on February 22 and interment was in the Salem Cemetery.  A celebration of life service will be held later in the year in memory of our beloved Betty.  Memorials may be made to the Salem United Methodist Church or to the Salem Cemetery Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
