Charles “Charlie” Thomas Ward, 81, of Sturkie, Arkansas departed this life on March 24, 2019 at Sturkie, Arkansas. Charlie was born to the late Golden T. Ward and Renvey E. Dees on February 13, 1938 in Ruskin, Florida.
Charlie was united in marriage to Carolyn Deloris Coleman on March 5th, 1960 in Kansas City, MO. Charlie served as an airman in the Air Force from 1956 to 1962, spent his working years as a heavy equipment mechanic in the West Plains area, and was elected to serve as the Fire Chief for the Sturkie Volunteer Fire Department for several years. Charlie enjoyed raising cattle and farming and could always be trusted to help his neighbors and members of the Sturkie community with his mechanic skills.
Charlie leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Deloris of Sturkie, Arkansas; two daughters, Cindy Ward of Phoenix, AZ, Teri Wentling and husband Joe of Phoenix, AZ; three sons, Charles “Chuck” of Independence, MO, Tim and wife Mary of Wooster, AR, David and wife Jodie of Clarksville, TN; 9 grandchildren, Monica, Dylan, Grace, Willow, Henry, Molly, Bailey, Phelan, and Ben; sister Goldie of Salome, AZ; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Golden and Renvey, and brother J.W.
A celebration of life will be held on April 6th, 2019 (3:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M.) at the Sturkie Volunteer Fire Department in Sturkie, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, AR.
