Darlene Dovie (Hackney) Jackson, 89, of Franklin, Arkansas passed away from this life on Wednesday June 11, 2025, at Cherokee Village, Arkansas. Darlene was born to Floyd Mitchell and Beulah Talitha (Phelps) Hackney on July 5, 1935, in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.
Darlene was united in marriage to Joseph Ernest Sparkman on July 7, 1951, in Salem, Arkansas and later married Lloyd Calvin Jackson on August 19, 1958, in Hardy, Arkansas. Darlene loved her family, church family, friends, and dog (Harley) dearly and cherished every minute spent with them. Some of her favorite activities included gardening, reading, watching Dr. David Jeremiah on tv, old game shows, and rodeos. Her favorite time of the year was the holidays and having family home. She was a member of the Myron Baptist Church in Myron, Arkansas. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and friend.
She leaves to mourn her passing son, Calvin Jackson of Oxford, Arkansas; three daughters, Carolyn Rhynes and husband Larry of Ash Flat, Arkansas, Kathy Burch of Salem, Arkansas, and Angela Walker and Russ of Salem, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; three brothers, Harold Hackney of Kansas City, Kansas, Darrell Hackney of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Cleo Hackney and wife Nancy of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; three sisters, Zelma Gregory of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, Sue Taylor and husband Darrell of Hardy, Arkansas, and Kay Carpenter of Rogers, Arkansas; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by both of her husbands (Joseph Sparkman and Lloyd Jackson), son (Gary Jackson), and parents (Floyd and Beulah Hackney).
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday June 14, 2025, at the Myron Baptist Church in Myron, Arkansas with Bro. Hunter Hardin officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. until time of service on Saturday June 14, 2025, at the Myron Baptist Church in Myron, Arkansas. Interment will be in the Bates Cemetery in Myron, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Tony Meyers, Hayden Lewis, Ian Jackson, Jude Herring, Noah McSpaden, and Carter Jackson. Honorary pallbearers are Tony Burch and Jeremy Jackson. Memorials may be made to the Myron Baptist Church in Myron, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
