Dowl David Godwin

Dowl David Godwin, 73, of Salem, Arkansas departed this life on March 1, 2020 in Salem, Arkansas. Dowl was born May 1, 1946 to the late Carl David Godwin and Trellis Lorene (Blankenship) Godwin in Evening Shade, Arkansas.

Dowl was united into marriage to Lynda Jean Barnett on November 6, 1971 in Salem, Arkansas and to this union a daughter was born. Dowl worked in construction, served as the Fulton County Judge from 1987 until 1990 and served for twenty-five years on the Salem Volunteer Fire Department. Dowl retired after twenty-seven years with the Arkansas State Police as the Driver License Examiner. Dowl loved his family and was a member of the Salem First Baptist Church. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Dowl is survived by his wife, Lynda Godwin of Salem, Arkansas; daughter, Lisa LeJeune and husband Ray of Salem, Arkansas; two grandsons, Avery LeJeune and Aidan LeJeune of Salem, Arkansas; brother, Dale Godwin and wife Connie of Agnos, Arkansas; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister (Carlene Jones).

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Salem First Baptist Church in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Barker Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery in Salem, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Darren Springstun, Jason Batterton, Randy Springstun, Ashton Powers, Michael Vest, and Jeff Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Don Guthrie, Kenny Ellison, Gary Hardin, Vern Lindvall, Byron Price, Butch Ellison, Slayton Newman, Jerry Butler, and Ronnie Roberts. Memorials may be made to the Salem First Baptist Church building fund or American Cancer Society. Arrangements are entrusted to Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Arkansas.
