Emma Lorraine (Scott) Stokes, age 74, departed this life on Sunday, September 30, 2018 in Salem, Arkansas. She was born to the late George Scott and Euphemia Fay (Ovenden) Scott on September 27, 1944 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Lorraine was united in marriage to Everette William Stokes on June 7, 1977 in Basil, Switzerland and to this union two children were born. Lorraine worked many years in childcare and was known to many as Nana. Lorraine was a member of the Immanuel Southern Baptist Church in Salem and will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
She leaves to mourn her passing; husband, Bill Stokes of Salem, Arkansas; son, George Stokes of Salem, Arkansas; daughter, Heather Bennett of Virginia Beach, Virginia; six grandchildren, Greg Stokes, Lauren Stokes, Colleen Burkhart, Alexis Burkhart, Hope Bennett and Jace Bennett; brother, George Scott and wife (Val) of Edinburgh, Scotland; three sisters, Brenda Meenan and husband Joe of Edinburgh, Scotland, Eleanor Lamb and husband Dave of Edinburgh, Scotland and Norma Rodgers of Edinburg, Scotland; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother in law (Paddy Rodgers).
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Immanuel Southern Baptist Church in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. Alan Winberry officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas. Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery in Salem, Arkansas. Pallbearers are George Stokes, Mike Freeman, Greg Stokes, Matt Turner, Robert Pollard and Ray Barker. Honorary pallbearers are Kamden Barker, Austin Manley, Layton Birmingham, James Vaughn and Ethan Birmingham. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
