Gwenda Inez (Foster) Rowland departed from us on October 20, 2025, at the young age of 93.
She was born in Elizabeth, Arkansas on February 3, 1932, to Troy Foster and Mildred (Marchant) Foster. She was one of ten children in a loving, tight knit family.
Gwen enjoyed being at home and “playing in the dirt”, as she would refer to her gardening projects. She loved being outside spending time in nature. She didn’t care for idle time and was stubborn to the core; I hear that runs in the family. She had a sharp mind and a quick wit. Love was what she carried. Her love for all was unconditional and she had a deep empathy for all the suffering in the world. She had a personal relationship with her creator and was of the Catholic faith. Some of her most quoted lines were, “Hope’s not hope if you can see it.” and “Be good to yourself and be good to others.”
Gwen’s journey here has reached its destination, but she will continue making pathways in the hearts of all of those who were present in her life. The stars await this beautiful, sweet, and gentle soul. Peace be with you.
Gwen is survived by her three children, son Mikel Rowland of Mountain Home, Arkansas, daughter Renee Messina of Kingsport, Tennessee and daughter Bridget Rowland of the home in Sturkie, Arkansas.
She also leaves behind three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also left behind are brothers, Junior, Ed, Donnie, Gail, and sisters Shirley Holstine and Pat Sobba.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Larry Foster, sisters Mary Conrow and Beatrice Young.
There will be no arrangements at this time.
