Hazel Louise (Bosworth) Barker, 84, of Salem, Arkansas passed from this life on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in Salem, Arkansas. Hazel was born September 27, 1940, to Mary Ann Bosworth in Agnos, Arkansas.
Hazel was united in marriage to James Rodney Barker on July 6, 1958, in Salem, Arkansas, and to this union three children were born. Hazel spent her working years as a secretary with Salem Clinic, KSAR Radio, and Barker Funeral Home. Hazel was a past member of the Salem Chamber of Commerce, Arkansas Business and Professional Women, and Salem School Alumni Association. Hazel never met a stranger and was a friend to all. She loved her flowers in her yard and anything to do with glassware. She took pride in her yard and loved taking care of her flowers. Over the years she acquired a vast collection of glassware, and she was very proud of it and loved to share it with others. She was a friend to many as Hazel, mother-mom to her children, and Nana Lou to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, friend, and was a member of the Salem First Baptist Church.
Hazel leaves to mourn her passing; daughter, Carla Richards of Salem, Arkansas; two sons, Bruce Barker of Lanton, Missouri, and Steve Barker and wife Kimberly of Salem, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Luke Barker and wife Samantha, Stephanie Cox and husband Matt, Sara Sugg and husband Brian, Cathryn Nelson and husband Josh, Elizabeth Gibson and Brandon Moss, Trenton Barker, Peyton Barker and Madison Sharp, and Carson Barker; eighteen great grandchildren, Riley LaFevers, Hattie LaFevers, Alli Smith, Addi Smith, Tyde Terry, Hoyt Smith, Camryn Nelson, Cooper Cox, Noah Barker, Bristol Terry, Brady Cox, Caydee Cox, Connor Barker, Stanley James Nelson, Elsie Barker, Trapper Pickett, Gunner Pickett, Rex Sugg, and one baby Barker on the way; brother-in-law, Gary Barker and wife Judy of Gentry, Arkansas; special friends, Rhonda Robbins-Harber, John Ed Isbell, and Cindy Isbell. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rodney Barker; mother, Mary Ann Dover; stepfather, Gilbert Dover; three brothers-in-law, Roy Barker, Udell Skidmore, and Larry Barker; three sisters-in-law, Anna Lee Barker, Evelyn Skidmore, and Jo Ann Barker.; and stepsister, Veneda Zeigler.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 15, 2024, at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas. Interment will be Friday, November 15, 2024, at the Salem Cemetery in Salem, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Luke Barker, Trenton Barker, Peyton Barker, Carson Barker, Josh Nelson, Matt Cox, Brian Sugg, and Brandon Moss. Honorary pallbearers will be Norman and Gayle Cozort, John Ed Isbell, Jim Weathers, Tuffy Smith, and Billy Joe French. Memorials may be made to the Fulton County Library Salem Branch in Salem, Arkansas or the Salem Cemetery Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
