Joyce Ann Hodges

Joyce Ann Hodges, 83, of Viola, Arkansas, passed from this life on Sunday, February 4, 2024. Joyce was born to Ralph Emerson Shrable and Lillie Leeann (Worsham) Shrable on September 10, 1940, in Viola, Arkansas. 
 
Joyce was united in marriage to Leon Hodges on June 4, 1983, in Viola, Arkansas. Joyce was a member of the Viola Church of Christ. She loved the Lord, her family, her flowers (mums), cooking for others (particularly chocolate rolls), Chiefs, Cardinals, and her traditional Christmas dinner of homemade pizza and sloppy jo’s. She never forgot a birthday or special event. She would cut out her favorite sayings and/or poems to share or put into her Bible to reflect upon. 

Joyce leaves to cherish her memory; her husband, Leon, three daughters: Vicki Hancock, Shelly (Kirt) Upton, and Vicki Hodges, three sons: Doug Hodges, Greg Hodges, and Steven (Anita) Hodges, nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, sister: Lessie Clay, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a grandson, great grandson, her parents, four brothers, six sisters, daughter-in-law, and two special nieces. 

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, February 9, 2024, at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. R. A. Pendergrass and Bro. Alan Talburt officiating. The interment will be in the Elizabeth Cemetery in Elizabeth, Arkansas. The pallbearers will be family. Memorials may be made to Paragould Children’s Home in Paragould, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
