Kathy Louise (Brethauer) Garrison, 73, of Viola, Arkansas, passed from this life on Sunday, March 10, 2024, in Salem, Arkansas. Kathy was born to Joseph Brethauer and Francis Louise (Weber) Brethauer on March 8, 1951, in Fort Lupton, Colorado.
Kathy was united in marriage to Gene Garrison and to this union two children were born. Kathy spent her working years as a waitress, police dispatcher, antique store owner, but was really just a farm girl at heart. Kathy dreamed of being a veterinarian and loved all animals (cats, dogs, birds, any fuzzy animal she could find, and especially horses). Kathy loved children and was a little kid herself around Christmas. Kathy loved surprise gifts, plants, gardening, lilac blooms, and her favorite color was lavender. Kathy had a huge heart few people ever got to see, an incredible laugh and smile, beautiful eyes, was very strong and brave, fiercely loyal to people she cared about, rebellious, mischievous, and outspoken. A short time before she passed away, she said “her biggest regret was that she didn’t have more fun”. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and she will be greatly missed.
Kathy leaves to mourn her passing, son, Joseph Lavoy Garrison of Viola, Arkansas; daughter, Jennifer Louise Garrison of Colorado; many grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother.
No services are scheduled currently. A few charities that she gave to are Shriners, St. Jude, National Law Enforcement and Officer Memorial Fund, Wounded Warrior Project, and U.S. Deputy Sheriff’s Association, but she asked for anyone that wanted to give a memorial to give to a charity of their choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
