Listen to Obituary

Keevin Wynn Smith, 66, of Camp, AR, passed from this life on August 23, 2026, at Salem, AR. He succumbed to ALS, the same disease that claimed the life of his father and brother.

He was born at Batesville, AR, on February 23, 1960, to Billy Joe Smith and Norma Lee (Geib) Smith. Shortly after graduation from Mills High School in Little Rock, AR, and one year of Vocational Technical School, he returned home and lived on land between Camp and Salem the remainder of his life.

One of Keevin's early employments was at Mccullough Satellite in Union, AR, where he met his future bride, Brenda Kay (Bridges) Beard. They wed on July 11, 1981, at Camp, AR, and were blessed with a son, Wyatt Austin Smith, on November 4, 1983. Keevin closed his career with Caterpillar in Pomona, MO. Keevin, Brenda, and Wyatt also had a livestock and hay operation during many of those years.

Keevin was a man of many talents. Probably remembered best for his mechanical expertise and unassuming mannerisms, he was also known for his expert marksmanship and was very adept at woodworking. Lucky you if you were the recipient of one of his personal woodworking designs. He was always generous with his time and knowledge to anyone who needed it. If he didn't have a ready answer, he would think about it, research, if necessary, return with the solution—then help in its implementation. After retirement, he and Brenda enjoyed traveling in their RV or motor home, especially to the corn fields of Iowa and Nebraska.

Keevin is survived by a son, Michael Beard (Kimber) of Melbourne, AR; a granddaughter, Abbigael, of Melbourne, AR; a nephew, Will Smith (Katrina) and their daughter, Eleanor, of Rogers, AR; a brother-in-law, Rodney Bridges, of Salem, AR; sisters-in-law, Patricia Gail Bridges of Salem, AR, and Dana Shaw of Greenbrier, AR. He is also survived by cousins, other relatives, and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Smith; his son, Wyatt Smith; his father, Billy Smith, his mother, Norma Smith, his brother Joelynn Smith, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Austin and Della Bridges.
