Larry Allen Ayling, 84, of Ash Flat, Arkansas, passed from this life on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Ash Flat, Arkansas. He was born on October 28, 1941, in Phillips, Texas, to Glen Allen Ayling and Pearl Bernice (Hooper) Ayling.
Larry lived a life of service and compassion toward others. He married Sue Thompson in California, and together they built a life centered on family and helping those around them.
Throughout his working years, Larry served in several meaningful roles as a coroner, funeral director, and mortician, dedicating himself to caring for families during difficult times with dignity and compassion. His service extended beyond his profession as he was also involved with search and rescue efforts, always willing to help when others were in need.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, carrying that same sense of duty and commitment throughout his life.
Outside of work, Larry enjoyed farming, bird watching, and had a fun-loving spirit that led him to enjoy time as a rodeo clown. He appreciated life’s simple pleasures and valued time spent outdoors and with those he loved.
He was a faithful member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Union, Arkansas, and was also a member of the Freemasons.
He is survived by his daughter, Shelene Ayling of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Heather Ayling, Korey Ayling, Brittany Ayling, and Austin Ayling; along with many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sue Ayling; his son, Stacy Ayling; and his parents.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Harmony Cemetery in Wheeling, Arkansas, with Bro. Ronnie Black officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
