Sue (Moody) Lakey

May 27, 1942 — January 23, 2021

Margaret "Sue" Moody Lakey, daughter of John Moody, Jr., and Ruby Faye McNeill Moody, was born May 27, 1942, in Salem, Arkansas. On January 23, 2021, she departed this earth in Little Rock, Arkansas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Dr. Michael Moody.

Sue was a 1960 graduate of Salem High School and attended ASU Jonesboro. During her school years, she loved to play basketball and her mother can be remembered hollering towards the court, “Hip em, Sue”. She retired from Hertz Car Rental after 20 years of service and “She was always a bright light at the airport”. She was a member of Shannon Hills Baptist Church in Shannon Hills, Arkansas. She was a kind, amazing, loving, funny, witty woman who loved her family deeply. The oldest of six siblings, she loved her family roots and dedicated most of her time researching and speaking to others about her genealogy research. She loved her Irish heritage and her family’s red headed genes. But, during hunting seasons, you definitely wouldn’t find her doing research. Instead, you would find her in the woods trying to get that “big buck”. She loved to hunt, camp and spend time at the river. She loved deer camp and always said the air was different up there. If you ever needed a good marksman on your team, you could count on Sue. She was quite handy with various weapons. She was so good, that she even received numerous AGFC Triple Trophy Awards. She also was a big fan of western movies. Her favorites were Gunsmoke, The Rifleman and The Virginian. She was a big fan of Elvis too! You would hardly ever catch Sue without a smile on her face. She also liked to make her yum yums and visit her Amish friends for a good ole pumpkin roll. She also loved her root beer. She was always there for anyone who needed an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. She would always give the best straightforward advice. She was so full of life and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her family. She is survived by her husband, Louie O. Lakey, Jr. of 34 years.
