Mary Lou Bassham

Mary Lou (Land) Bassham, 84, of Salem, Arkansas, was born on May 10, 1935, in Lanton, Missouri, daughter of Charles C. and Bertha Ann (Jackson) Land.  She departed this life on August  12, 2019 at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Arkansas.

Mary married Roy Norman Bassham on March 31, 1956 in Sturkie, Arkansas and to this union four children were born.  She worked for 31 years in the housekeeping department at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Arkansas and attended Crossroads Baptist Church in Ash Flat, Arkansas.  Mary’s family meant everything to her and she loved going out to eat and painting.  She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend.

She leaves to mourn her passing:  2 sons, David Bassham (Sherry) of Moko, Arkansas and Tony Squire (son by heart) of Mountain Home, Arkansas; 2 daughters, Jeanie Wilcox of Salem, Arkansas and Teresa Brichacek (Mike) of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; sister, Laquita Underwood of West Plains, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Jessica Woods (Rusty) of Moko, Arkansas, Matthew Coldiron of Pottersville, Missouri, Ben Brichacek of Grandview, Missouri and Carrie Haynes (Lance) of Rolla, Missouri; 6 great-grandchildren, Austin Bassham, Nolan Bassham, Ryan Woods, Stormy Woods, Hunter Brichacek and Patrick Haynes; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Braelyn and Axten; numerous nieces, nephew and a host of other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter (Sherry Cowens), son-in-law (Reid “Andy” Wilcox), 5 sisters and 2 brothers.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 16, 2019, 10:00 AM at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. John Hodges and Bro. Henry Parker officiating.  Visitation will be Thursday, August 15, 2019, 6-8 PM at Barker Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Stateline Cemetery in Moko, Arkansas.  Memorials may be made to the Fulton County Hospital Foundation or Stateline Cemetery Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Arkansas.
