Meredith Sue Alexander

Meredith Sue Alexander, 86, of Presque Isle, Michigan, passed peacefully from this life on Monday, December 1, 2025, in Alpena, Michigan. She was born on December 24, 1938, in Morehouse, Missouri, to Monroe A. Greer and Enretta (Gross) Greer. 

Meredith was united in marriage to Jack Cochran in 1957 in Salem, Arkansas. She later married Joe Alexander on February 11, 1988, in Flint, Michigan. She was of the Baptist faith and was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering strength. Meredith had a deep love for her family and for helping others. She enjoyed quilting and remained active and independent, retiring only three years ago. 

Meredith worked for many years as a cook in a nursing home, where she lovingly prepared meals and cared for residents with compassion. 

She is survived by three daughters: Jackie Daros (James) of Presque Isle, Michigan; Dawn Jolly of Osceola, Arkansas; and Robin MacArthur of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Danielle Gaglio; Renee MacArthur-Grier; Drs. Antony and Amy Daros; and Dr. Alexandra and Shawn Beier; as well as her great-grandchildren: Edward Bardoni, Daniel Bardoni, Christen Bardoni, Owen Bardoni, Kayla Van Egmond (Andrew), Curtis Daros, Costandina Daros, Lara Beier, and Evan Beier. Her great-great-grandchildren include Aria Van Egmond, Sophia Van Egmond, and Lydia Van Egmond. 

Meredith was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Enretta Greer; her husbands, Joe Alexander and Jack Cochran; and her three brothers, William, Raymond, and Fred Greer. 

The family extends special thanks to Yvonda and Steve Glueck for their loving support and cherished friendship. 

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery in Salem, Arkansas, with Bro. Barrett Harrelson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
