Nova Marie Smith

Nova Marie Smith, 95, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas.  Marie was born February 28, 1928, in Byron, Arkansas to Ransom Harrison Moore and Carrie Bernice (Birdsong) Moore. 

Marie married Dale Smith on June 26, 1945, in Sturkie, Arkansas.  Marie was a homemaker and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas.  Marie enjoyed singing at church and with her family, quilting at church, and spending time with her family.  Marie and her husband enjoyed traveling, going to all fifty states, three provinces, and all the way to the North Pole.  She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt, and friend. 

Marie leaves to mourn her passing, son, Ronnie Smith of Raytown, Missouri; daughter, Becky Menteer of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; four grandchildren, Phillip Smith (Tasha), Amy Smith, Rachel Pike (Todd), and Renee` Wilking (Brian); five great grandchildren, Kailey Gilliam (Blake), Megan Weddle (Logan), Jacob Pike, Noah Pike, and Sophia Wilking; one great great granddaughter, Delia Bradley; many other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband (Dale Smith), parents (Ransom and Carrie Moore), three brothers (Otis, Tommie, and Parmer Moore), and three sisters, (Elsie Kerley, Pauline Williams, and Treva Hartin).

Funeral services will be 2 PM, Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. Eric Ertle officiating.  Visitation will be 1-2 PM, Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Barker Funeral Home.  Interment will be in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Mitchell, Arkansas.  The pallbearers will be James Kerley, Ralph Moore, Leroy Moore, Danny Moore, Lynn Guffey, and Ernie McIntosh.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Kerley, Tony Kerley, and Mitchell Stanley.  Memorials may be made to St. Labre Indian School (112 St. Labre Campus Drive, 115 W 1^st St., Ashland, Montana 59003).  Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home, LLC in Salem, Arkansas.
