Orville Burton McFarland

Orville Burton McFarland, Jr., 75, of Viola, Arkansas departed this life on Friday, January 3, 2020 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Orville was born to the late Orville Burton McFarland, Sr. and Betty Charlotte (Osborn) McFarland on June 26, 1944 in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Orville was united into marriage to Marsha Kay Wentz on July 25, 1964 in Gardena, California and to this union six children were born. Orville worked as the water commissioner for the city of Viola for thirty years. Orville was a bus driver for Viola, a hog farmer, past president of the Viola Lions Club, Fire Chief, and general manager of Texaco Gas Station. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend, and was of the Lutheran Faith.

He leaves to mourn his passing; wife, Marsha McFarland of Viola, Arkansas; two sons, Charles B. McFarland and wife Nicole of Viola, Arkansas and Christopher E. McFarland and wife Stephanie of Viola, Arkansas; four daughters, Patty Jones of Henderson, Arkansas, Pamela Storment and husband Scotty of Bolivar, Missouri, Paula Kesner and husband Scott of Tecumseh, Missouri, and Penny McFarland of Jonesboro, Arkansas; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; sister, Betty Bruns and husband Tom of Bentonville, Arkansas; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister (Agnes McFarland).

Memorial services are 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas with Donald Montgomery officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Arkansas.
