Palmer “Stacy” Barton was born on May 3, 1937, in Haysi, Pennsylvania, to Joseph and Edith (Baker) Barton. One of twelve children, Stacy grew up surrounded by the kind of family bond that would shape the man he became.
Stacy was blessed with two sons and five stepchildren. He spent 42 years alongside his beloved wife, Lillian, until her passing in 2021.
By trade, Stacy worked in quality control for an optical lens company, but his truest calling lived in music. He was a songwriter whose words spoke of faith and family — the very core of who he was. His most cherished creation (of over 500) was a song he wrote titled “How Far is Heaven” — a profound question that quietly guided his heart throughout his life, and one that has now, at last, been answered.
Stacy was a warm and caring man — loyal, steady, and an emotional rock for the many friends who became his local family. He gave generously of himself, and his presence was a quiet kind of strength that those around him could always count on. He loved to bake special treats for those he cared for and tried his best to make you laugh!
On May 26, 2026, Stacy left this world for what he always imagined would be endless happy days — fishing with his dad and experiencing a joy like nothing this life could offer.
He will be deeply missed, but his love will last forever. A special thank you to Scott, Leah, Addie and Phoebe for being the cherry on top of a blessed life.
