Raymond Garland Branscum, 79, of Ash Flat, Arkansas, passed away on May 13, 2026, at Ash Flat, Arkansas. He was born on June 7, 1946, in Ash Flat, Arkansas, to George Garland Branscum and Ella Pauline (Nix) Branscum.
Raymond spent his working years as a carpenter, building many homes throughout the area with skill, pride, and hard work. He was known for his craftsmanship and strong work ethic, leaving behind not only houses but a legacy of dedication and service to his community.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Salem in Salem, Arkansas, Raymond was also committed to serving others as a firefighter for 10 to 12 years with the Cherokee Village Fire Department. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fox hunting, bird hunting, gardening, and spending time outdoors whenever he could. Raymond also enjoyed cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks football, Arkansas Razorbacks men's basketball, and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Above all, Raymond loved his family dearly. He treasured the time spent with his children and grandchildren and will be remembered for his steady presence, hardworking nature, and love for the outdoors and the simple joys of life.
He is survived by two sons, Scott Branscum of Ash Flat, Arkansas, and Tim Branscum (Shelly) of Owasso, Oklahoma; and five grandchildren, Hailee Branscum, Cole Branscum (Emmy), Greg Branscum (Amanda), Lindsey Price (Jackie), and Rhiannon Perdion (Nick).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Pauline Branscum; his brother and sister-in-law, Gary Wayne and Lenisa Branscum; and his brother-in-law, Jimmy Sisney.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas, with Bro. Tyler Fox and Zach Branscum officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Wiles Cemetery in Ash Flat, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be Zach Branscum, Justin Branscum, Robert Willard, Gatlin Branscum, Greg Branscum, and Jared Jones. Honorary pallbearers are James Blevins, Larry Turner, Tuffy Smith, Joey Whited, Chuck Young, Jimmy Don Hall, Marty Whited, and Cole Branscum.
Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
