Raymond Choate, age 83, passed away on January 12, 2026. He was born on February 18, 1942.
Raymond is survived by his wife and partner of 45 years, Brenda Choate; his daughter, Tracy Dover; his son Jason Estes and wife Monica; and his grandchildren, Autumn McAnally and husband Tyler, Grant Dover and wife Carly, Mary Katherine Wilson and husband Adam, and Clayton Estes. He is also survived by his great grandchildren: Jaylee Freeman, Haydin Taylor, Remi Taylor, Lane Dover, Cooper Dover, Jensen Dover, Miles Dover, Amara Dover, Ezra Wilson, and Lylah Wilson. He is further survived by his twin brother, Winston Choate and son Steve Choate.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Winnie Choate; his brother Sanford Choate; his sisters Airis Mccoy and Olive Crook; and a special niece, Laiken Small.
Raymond proudly served six years in the United States Navy as a boiler operator. After his military service, he worked for Wabash, where he retired as a supervisor. He was a man of strong faith who dearly loved his church family. Raymond never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He especially enjoyed fishing and cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Raymond will be remembered for his warm spirit, his humor, devotion to his family, his faith, and the many conversations that turned strangers into friends.
Services will be held Saturday, January 17, at 1:00 p.m. at Everton Community Church. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
