Roberta Bishop

Roberta Madgelene (Grissom) Bishop, 96, of Conway, Arkansas, (formerly of Saddle) passed from this life on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 in Conway, Arkansas.  Roberta was born May 16, 1924 to Obie Grissom and Goldie (Robinson) Grissom in South Fork, Arkansas.

Roberta was married to Val Bishop on October 1, 1941 in Heart, Arkansas.  Roberta spent her working years on at various factory jobs, waitress jobs, and food service at Pontiac State Hospital, but her main job was working on the family farm.  Roberta started school at a one room school (Flat Branch) and later attended high school in Columbus, Kansas and Ash Flat, Arkansas.  Roberta was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Roberta leaves to mourn her passing, daughter, Pat Politte and husband Mike of Conway, Arkansas; son, Lyle Bishop of Mountain Home, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Karen Collins and husband Scott of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Lewis Bishop and wife Kathy of Mountain Home, Arkansas, LeAnna Floyd and husband Nathan of Conway, Arkansas and David Lambert and wife Angie of Brussels, Belgium; six great grandchildren, Robert Luther and wife Amber, Katy Dubois and husband Zach, Wesley Floyd, Bishop Floyd, Baylee Lambert and Eli Lambert; three great great grandchildren; Hadley, Saxon and Emmy Luther; sister-in-law, Corean Shrable and husband Max of Gepp, Arkansas; brother, Travis Grissom of Saddle, Arkansas;  many other relatives and friends.  Roberta is preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant son, daughter-in-law (Arlene Bishop), two sisters (Lovena Gilbreath and Romona Wooldridge), brother-in-law (Robert Wooldridge) and sister-in-law (Christine Grissom).

Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM Monday, January 18, 2021, at Saddle Cemetery in Saddle, Arkansas with LeAnna Floyd and Lewis Bishop officiating.  Honorary pallbearers are Lewis Bishop, David Lambert, Nathan Floyd, Robert Luther, Scott Collins and Wesley Floyd.  Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Kindred Hospice of Conway, Arkansas or to Saddle Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
