Roy Lee Barker

Roy Lee Barker, age 87, of Salem, Arkansas departed this life on Thursday, November 29, 2018 in Salem, Arkansas. He was born to the late Luther Sylvester Barker and Nola Lou (Maguffee) Barker on July 7, 1931 in Salem, Arkansas.

Roy was united in marriage to Anna Lee Williams on March 14, 1950 in Salem, Arkansas and they celebrated sixty three years of marriage. Roy served as the Fulton County Sheriff, Fulton County Assessor, Fulton County Coroner, board member of WRAAA, past member of the Salem Chamber of Commerce and Arkansas Sheriffs Association. Roy served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Roy was a member of the Salem Masonic Lodge # 418 and was a member of the Salem Church of Christ. Roy was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather and friend.

He leaves to mourn his passing; two daughters, Carol Ann Kissinger and husband Greg of Glencoe, Arkansas and Jana Lea Tyler and husband Randy of Sturkie, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Watson and husband Jeff, Christina Ann Kissee, John Kissee, Deanna Schales and husband Aaron, Justin Tyler and wife Kimberley, Cory Tyler and wife Haley, Garrett Kissinger, Scott Kissinger and Ethan Kissinger; fifteen great grandchildren, Kelcie Askren and husband Ryan, Joshua Watson, Kiara Watson, Kylee Watson, Ethan Copeland, Colin Lee Copeland, Christopher Kissee, John David Kissee, Abbigayle Hilton, Grayce Hilton, Izaac Hilton, Fisher Tyler, Conley Tyler, Reid Tyler and Lilly Kissinger; one great great grandson, Jaxxon Kissee; two brothers, Larry Barker and Maryllen Henry of Salem, Arkansas and Gary Barker and wife Judy of Gentry, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Hazel Barker of Salem, Arkansas; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother (Rodney Barker), sister (Evelyn Skidmore), brother- in- law (Udell Skidmore) and sister-in-law (JoAnn Barker).

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. Mike Yates, Bro. David Gibson and Bro. John Hodges officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas. Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery in Salem, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Bruce Barker, Steve Barker, Neil Barker, Roy Cunningham, James Wayne Barker and Donnie Lance. Honorary pallbearers are Spring River Home Health, Melissa Beaver, Marty McBride, Judy Dunaway, Dr. David Kauffman and John Cawvey. Memorials may be made to the Paragould Children’s Home, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
