Sophia Mae Norman

Sophia Mae (Wood) Norman, 82, of Salem, Arkansas departed this life on January 28, 2019 at Salem, Arkansas. She was born to the late James Clough Wood and Dorothy Ruth (Brown) Wood on May 8, 1936 in Salem, Arkansas.                  

Sophia was united in marriage to Gilbert Louis Norman on April 8, 1956 in Sturkie, Arkansas. Sophia worked at Tri County Shirt Company for a number of years. Sophia loved family, sewing, gardening, flowers and was of the Christian faith. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

Sophia leaves to mourn her passing; son, Rex Norman and wife June of Sturkie, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Charlotte Waters and husband Justin of Honolulu, Hawaii and Elizabeth Kelly and husband Patrick of Norfork, Arkansas; three great grandchildren, Mackenzie Kelley, Aiden Waters and Brody Waters; two brothers, Owen Wood of Overbrook, Kansas and James Wood and wife Martha of Sturkie, Arkansas; sister, Dorothy Turrell and husband Don of Bull Shoals, Arkansas; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother (Roy Wood).

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. Josh Smithee officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 P.M. until time of service on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Barker Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Stateline Cemetery in Moko, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Lale Brown, Justin Brown, Kenneth Cox, Terry Wood, Brent Wood, Mike Turrell, Keith Turrell and Mark Skaggs. Memorials may be made to the Stateline Cemetery Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
