Thomas L. Bassham, 93, of Salem, Arkansas passed from this life on Sunday, September 13, 2020 in Salem, Arkansas. Thomas was born August 17, 1927 to Jay Felix Bassham and Mary Evelyn (Holloway) Bassham in Moko, Arkansas.
Thomas was united in marriage to Vera Fern Kinder on December 6, 1955 in Sturkie, Arkansas and to this union 5 children were born. Thomas spent his working years as Accounting Supervisor at North Arkansas Electric Cooperative, where he retired after 36 years. Thomas loved hunting, fishing, playing music, the St. Louis Cardinals, and was of the Baptist faith. Thomas was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend.
Thomas leaves to mourn his passing, wife, Vera Bassham of Salem, Arkansas; two daughters, Tonya Bethel and husband Greg of Koshkonong, Missouri and Beth Walker and husband Bobby of Cabot, Arkansas; three sons, Michael Bassham and wife Teresa of Gainesville, Missouri, Mark Bassham and wife Laurie of Salem, Arkansas, and Jeff Bassham and wife Jane of Springfield, Missouri; six grandchildren, Ryan Bassham, Kristi Walker and husband Daniel, Brittany Coley and husband Austin, Mary Grace Bassham, Dakota Bassham and Tommy Bassham; six great grandchildren, Derek Bassham, Brody Avery, Devyn Walker, Jarrett Avery, Daxton Walker and Hadlee Coley; sister, Ruthie Harris of Salem, Arkansas; many other relatives and friends. Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers (Jim, Odell, Talmadge, Edwin, Roy and Archie), and sister, (May Bassham).
Funeral services will be Thursday, 11:00 AM, September 17, 2020 at Salem First Baptist Church in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 AM until time of service Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Salem First Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Stateline Cemetery in Moko, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Ryan Bassham, Tommy Bassham, Derek Bassham, Link Humphries, Henry Maguffee, and Doug Buss. Honorary pallbearers are nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Stateline Cemetery, St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee or Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
