Vera James Jamison

Vera James Jamison, 102, of Viola, Arkansas passed from this life on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Salem, Arkansas. Vera was born to the late John Williams and Emily (Griffiths) Williams on October 5, 1919, in Blaenau Ffestiniog, North Wales, Great Britain.

Vera was united in marriage to Reid R. Jamison on August 19, 1939, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and to this union three children were born. Vera spent her working years as a homemaker and was a member of the Asbury Methodist Church in Denton, Texas. Vera was Mrs. Mature in Denton, Texas and entered the Mrs. Senior Texas pageant, winning third place, in 1997.  Vera was a member of a sewing group, a dance group, and helped start a Parkinson’s support group in 1994.  She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt, and friend.  

She leaves to mourn her passing, two daughters, Arlene Etheridge (J.B.) of Viola, Arkansas and Diana Fields (Jim) of Mount Lake, Washington; five grandchildren, Teresa Majors (Monty) of Viola, Arkansas, John Etheridge (Cindy) of Viola, Arkansas, Frank Etheridge (Lori) of Viola, Arkansas, Scott Spivey (Selena) of Talihina, Oklahoma, and Christina Jones (Stephen) of Seattle, Washington; eleven great grandchildren, Mitchal Majors (Allison), Brad Majors, Jaeson Etheridge, Summer Rogers, Rodney Etheridge (Kayla), Charita James (Forrest), Kurina Cotter (Cody), Victoria Lee (Alex), Malachi Coleman, Savanna Coleman, and Grayson Jones; twenty great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents. Son (Ronald Jamison), brother (Griff Williams), sister (Bertha Richards), and great granddaughter (Tiffany Etheridge).

Memorial services will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.  Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home, LLC in Salem, Arkansas.
