Vernon Marvin Cotter

Vernon Marvin Cotter, 90, of Gepp, Arkansas passed from this life on Friday, June 25, 2021, at his home in Gepp, Arkansas.  Vernon was born September 21, 1930, to Gilbert Marvin Cotter and Nancy Bessie (Foster) Cotter at Viola, Arkansas.

Vernon was married to Reba Jean Tilley on June 5, 1954, in Mountain Home, Arkansas and to this union four children were born.  Vernon spent his working years as an assembly line worker with Ford Motor Company and a few other jobs. Vernon served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Vernon enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing, hunting, time spent with his family, and his dog (Willa).  Vernon attended church at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Elizabeth, Arkansas.  Vernon was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend.

Vernon leaves to mourn his passing, daughter, Sharon L. Rigot (Tom) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; two sons, Gary Lin Cotter (Treva) of Viola, Arkansas and Verlin Cotter of Gamaliel, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Misty Baker (Chris), Michael Rigot (Sherri), Tom Rigot, Jr. (Angi), Clay Cotter (Jeni), and Cayla Phillips (Bryce); eight great grandchildren; sister, Chloe Cele McGee of Gepp, Arkansas; two brothers, Darrell Cotter of Gepp, Arkansas and Kermit Cotter (Virgie) of Viola, Arkansas; many other relatives and friends.  Vernon was preceded in death by his wife (Reba Jean Cotter), son (Roy Gilbert Cotter), parents, three sisters, and three brothers. 

Funeral services will be Monday, June 28, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. Robert Lash officiating.  Visitation will be Monday, June 28, 2021, 9:00 AM until time of service at Barker Funeral Home.  Interment will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Gepp, Arkansas.  Pallbearers are Josh Baker, Seth Baker, Kaden Rigot, Clay Cotter, Mike Rigot, and Tom Rigot, Jr..  Honorary Pallbearers are Peyton Rigot, Lydia Baker, Kaitlyn Rigot, Julia Rigot, and Cayla Phillips.  Memorials may be made to the Pleasant View Cemetery Association.  Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
