Virginia Naomi Foster Smith Billings

February 24, 1926 — June 16, 2022

Virginia Naomi Foster Smith Billings, 96, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed from this life on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Gainesville, Missouri. Virginia was born February 24, 1926, in Elizabeth, Arkansas, to the late Raymond “Ray” Lee Foster and Alice Louisa “Lou” Harbour Foster.

Virginia married Rayvon Quenton Smith in 1942 and traveled with him to Miami Beach, Florida, where he was stationed until being shipped out overseas during World War II.  They had one son, Roger Louis Smith.  Virginia later married Dale Woodrow Billings in 1947 and they lived in West Plains, Missouri until moving to Kansas City, Missouri in 1951.  They had two daughters and Dale adopted Roger before he started school. Virginia worked for American Can Company in North Kansas City, Missouri from 1952-1972, having to retire with total disability.  Dale and Virginia moved to Elizabeth in 1997.  Virginia loved gardening, canning, the beach and ocean in Florida, spending time with her family, and had a million-dollar smile.  Virginia was a member of Ivanhoe United Church of Christ in Raytown, Missouri, and later attended the Elizabeth Baptist Church in Elizabeth, Arkansas.  She loved her Lord and is in heaven with her Savior.  Virginia was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Virginia leaves to mourn her passing, son, Roger L. Billings of Elizabeth, Arkansas; two daughters, Regina L. Nicola of Cape Coral, Florida and Merium P. Eades of Mountain Home, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Shane Eades of Cape Coral, Florida, Billy Eades, Jr. of Butler, Missouri, Tina Eades of Searcy, Arkansas, Dalene Odegaard of Kansas City, Missouri, Roger Brian Billings of Elizabeth, Arkansas, Phillip Billings of Raymore, Missouri, and Cheyenne Billings of Elizabeth, Arkansas; three great grandchildren, Michael Marfield, Caleb Eades, and Brian Odegaard;  many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband (Dale Billings), parents (Ray and Lou Foster), two sisters (Nova Hammond and Esther Scott), one infant brother, two infant sisters, grandson (Shannon Eades), and son-in-law (Ron Nicola).

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 19, 2022, at the Elizabeth Baptist Church in Elizabeth, Arkansas with Bro. Warren Newman officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 P.M. until time of service on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at the Elizabeth Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Elizabeth Cemetery in Elizabeth, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Billy Eades, Jr., Lance Odegaard, Michael Dale Marfield, Brian Odegaard, Jason Marfield, and Cortley Rutledge.  Memorials may be made to the Gainesville Healthcare Center in Gainesville, Missouri.  Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
