William "Brennan" George de Soto, III

January 8, 1964 — February 1, 2018

William G. "Brennan" de Soto was born January 8, 1964 in Shreveport, La., to William G. de Soto Jr. and Vera Kaye (Hawthorne) de Soto. He passed on to the next life on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the age of 54 years with his wife by his side. Whether you knew him as Bill, Little Bill or Brennan, you undoubtedly were familiar with his infectious grin and his positive spirit. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps, 80 millimeter mortars, and always supported his fellow military members, both active and retired. His three best friends and partners in crime were Keith Havis Tatum of Frederiksted, St. Croix, Timothy Higgins of Shreveport, La., and Rev. David Chadwick of Brookland, Ark. He graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a degree in Fine Arts and went on to work as a sculptor, illustrator, landscape architect, writer and independent film producer. In 2002, he became an ordained Interfaith Minister. He loved Quantum Physics and Mechanics, cooking spicy cajun food, Comic Books and spending time camping with good friends and good food and great conversations around the fire. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, and his father-in-law, Joseph J. Ficarra Jr.  He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Rev. Niki M. de Soto of Salem, his sisters, Shannon DeSoto Brewster and husband Mike of Marthaville, La., and Tanya Martin and husband Terry of Shreveport, La., his nieces TaRhonda Champagne, Kaylene DeSoto, Carrigan Robinson, Stephanie Martin and Lindsey Martin, and nephew Randy Martin, and TaRhonda's children Kadance and Kaison Champagne, Stephanie's son Kayland Scott and Carrigan's children Justin Thomas, Jada Lawton and JaVanna McNiel; his brother-in-law Joe J. Ficarra III and wife, Amy Yeh, of Katy, Texas, and mother-in-law Mary C. Ficarra of Willis, Texas, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and close dear friends. Memorials in his honor may be made to Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge, 239 Turpentine Creek Ln., Eureka Springs, AR 72632. Arrangements under the supervision of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Ark.
