William Thomas Jones

William Thomas Jones, 80, of Salem, Arkansas departed this life on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Salem, Arkansas. He was born to the late William Eslie Jones and Thelma Margaret (Hutchinson) Jones June 15, 1938 in McComb, Mississippi.

William was united in marriage to Fern C. Grooms on August 12, 2011 in Salem, Arkansas. William retired from the railroad and served in the National Guard. William loved to sing and sang with a gospel quartet in California and did specials at the Salem Assembly of God Church. William enjoyed plants and did some work with a greenhouse specializing in cactus plants. He also enjoyed antiquing and had a large collection of old cookie jars. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, friend and was a member of the Salem Assembly of God Church.

William leaves to mourn his passing; wife, Fern Jones of Salem, Arkansas; two sons, Brad Jones of Chandlier, Arizona and Derry Reed of Memphis, Tennessee; daughter, Tiffany Reed of Salem, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Danikka, Ryanna, Kendall, Brittney, Jose, Jeremiah and Zacheriah; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
